In June 2024, a group of seven faculty and students from Ming Chuan University College of Law, led by Assistant Professor Chen Hui-Jun, participated in the 26-day “2024 Summer Exchange Camp” at China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) in Beijing. The program featured a variety of activities, including specialized lectures, professional practice exercises, and cultural visits. These activities provided Taiwanese students with deeper insights into the legal system, judiciary, and legal services in Mainland China, enhancing their professional skills.
During the opening ceremony, Huang Rui-Yu, Deputy Party Secretary of China University of Political Science and Law, welcomed the participants and emphasized CUPL’s long-standing commitment to building platforms for academic exchange and cooperation with Taiwan, as well as promoting cross-strait legal education. He also extended a special welcome to faculty and students from four Taiwanese universities.
Ming Chuan University’s Assistant Professor Chen Hui-Jun expressed gratitude for the invitation and noted that Ming Chuan has been sending students to participate in the exchange program since 2023. The university officially established a cooperative relationship with CUPL and plans to continue collaboration in the future, including student exchange programs. She hopes that the students will gain academic enrichment and experience the historic and cultural atmosphere of Beijing.
Ming Chuan University student Fang Yi-Jie also spoke during the ceremony, expressing her expectation that this program would provide her with an opportunity to learn more about CUPL, Chinese legal knowledge, and gain valuable experiences by interacting with Mainland Chinese students, thus broadening her horizons.
Following the ceremony, Taiwanese students currently studying at CUPL gave detailed introductions about their academic and daily life experiences, fostering an active and engaging atmosphere.
The camp’s activities were rich and comprehensive, including multiple specialized lectures and visits to significant cultural and historical sites such as the Forbidden City, Tencent Beijing headquarters, the Marco Polo Bridge Incident Memorial, Shougang Olympic Park, the Winter Olympic speed skating venue, the Olympic Forest Park, the Bird’s Nest, and the Water Cube. These visits allowed the students to fully appreciate the beauty of Beijing.
